Viagra by Pfizer is not the only drug for treatment of erectile dysfunction. There are many other methods used to treat this sexual disorder.

Some of these methods are not scientific. There are a lot of herbal drugs for treatment of erectile dysfunction. However, none of them is approved by the FDA and proven to be effective.
Finally, some of the drugs are PDE5 inhibitors, just like Viagra. The 2 drugs, except for Viagra, which are also popular among doctors and patients, are Cialis and Levitra.
Very often men get confused, which of these three impotence drugs is more efficient. This is why it is important to get a general overview of both, Cialis and Levitra and compare them to Viagra.
Cialis vs Viagra
The active ingredient in Cialis, drug developed by Eli Lilly and Co, is Tadalafil. The drug was approved by the US FDA in 2003 and became as popular as Viagra in 2011.
Cialis pills are available in 5, 10 and 20 mg. They should be taken 30 minutes to 12 hours prior to sexual activity. Cialis effect lasts for up to 36 hours.
The side effects of Cialis are very similar to those of Viagra. They include but are not limited to headache, back pain, stomach ache, runny nose, blurred vision and loss of hearing. It might also cause painful or prolonged erections.
Cialis can be used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Viagra is a drug that has a proven reputation, whereas Cialis is considered to be more effective. If you have a problem deciding, which of these drugs is better, first, consider asking your physician. If your doctor cannot advise you on the issue, you should remember the following:

• Both, Viagra and Cialis are phosphodiesterase type 5 (more often referred to as PDE-5) inhibitors
• Active ingredient in Viagra is Sildenafil citrate; in Cialis, it is Tadalafil
• Viagra is as efficient as Cialis, while the second one has longer effect (it might last for 17-36 hours)
• Viagra comes in 25, 50 and 100 mg pills, while Cialis is available in 5, 10, and 20 mg pills
• Both, Cialis and Viagra are available in chewable pills for quick digestion and release of the active ingredient
• Both, Viagra and Cialis should not be taken with alcohol and fatty foods
• Side effects associated with the use of Viagra and Cialis are similar

Levitra vs Viagra
Levitra is another drug used to treat erectile dysfunction. It was developed by Bayer and approved by the US FDA in 2003. Its active ingredient is Vardenafil, also a PDE5 inhibitor.
Levitra pills are available in 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg. The drug should be taken 1 hour prior to sexual activity; its effect lasts for up to 4-5 hours.
The side effects that Levitra may cause are similar to those of Viagra. Just as Cialis and Viagra, Levitra should not be taken with fat foods or alcohol. Its interactions with other drugs might be dangerous, so patients are recommended to consult their doctor first.
